How to detect lie by observing High Stress and the Sympathetic Nervous System.

You can detect lie by observing High Stress and the Sympathetic Nervous System.

There are inward and outward signs of this activity. Inwardly, the signs are the jittery, hypersensitive feeling signaling you are poised for action. Due to the lack of blood to the digestive system, you may get butterflies or a sick feeling. Your heart races with blood leaving the skin so you get the feeling of a high core temperature and cool skin (that is, you feel clammy). Your breathing is elevated, but constricted, so your heart and lungs race. This increased metabolism—as much as 100 percent—results in you feeling flushed and hot. Your focus becomes narrow and your hearing directed to the target. You can hear your heartbeat. Your mind recedes into the primitive state and emotions come to the fore. This explains why so many people cry when confronted and angry. Don’t perceive this as weak or fragile.

Outwardly, there are noticeable signs as well:
 The body’s decision to take blood from the skin results in a pallid complexion.
 Being part of the digestive system, the mucosa of the lips and mouth have dramatically reduced blood flow; lips and other mucosa shrink, resulting in pale thin lips and drooping lower eye lids.
 The increased heart rate may show in the pounding of the chest or rise and fall of the shoulders.
 Hands may shake in response to increased metabolism.
 Increased need for air results in flared nostrils and audible breathing.
 The eyes have focused on the cause of the stress and this can result in a squint or wide-open eyes, depending on the situation.
 The brow clinches and draws downward. Lips tighten to a thin colorless line.
 Shoulders draw higher in preparation for defense or escape.
 The body’s increased need for glucose can start to scavenge from the mucosa and leave white residue in the corners of the mouth.
 Elbows go close to the ribs.
 Palms turn down and the hands close to form fists. In extreme terror this can go even further, resulting in the elbows drawing to the ribs and the hands moving to protect the face, in a reflexive effort to protect the area around the vital organs—oddly enough, leaving the top of the head unprotected.
 The increased need for cooling causes the body to sweat, and in this sweat are massive amounts of by-products; the fight-or-flight body odor is noticeable.
 Ultimately, the person collapses.

New Free Blog Hosting for personal use.

Many people enjoy blogging for various reasons. Some are for personal use, while others are for business use. Blogs give you a chance to reinforce your message in a positive way that is welcomed by your readers. Blogs help you define and shape the customer experience with information and feedback. Blogs can help you reach your communication goals. Through blogging, your company can build goodwill, attract new business, improve customer relations, AND enhance your brands. Many companies are already actively participating in the blogosphere, contributing a variety of blogs to the online community.

There are a lot of choices when it comes to choosing blogging software. They range from a number of choices, such as hosted blogs solution from Blogger, Wordpress.com and Livejournal (which include free blog hosting), and Wordpress (free download, installation and customization); choices with monthly fees, such as TypePad; and software for outright purchase such as Movable Type. Hosted blogs are incredibly simple to set up. There is no software to install or configure. There are no concerns as to whether your server supports the blogging software as it's run on the hosting company's servers and typically accessed via your browser. An aspiring blogger simply creates an account, picks a basic blog design, and starts blogging. The basic blog design, usually called a template, can also be personalized and customized later as desired.

I come across newcomer okayblog.net, which offers free blog hosting solution powered by Wordpress blogging software. I found problem on signing up for a free blog. The username and password failed to be sent to my email address. Unlike Blogger (free blog hosting), you can't make money using your own Adsense ID. The wordpress template choices are quite limited, although you can find your own templates elsewhere. After you create your blog, the rest is easy - change to new theme, install additional plugins, add new widget, create blogroll, and create good content. I think this free blog hosting is suitable for personal use, not for making money. You rather choose another free blog that pay you each time you post, and it is worth consideration.

Key Elements that determine the Success of an Executive. Business Success Guide for Executive Genius.

What is it that allows a CEO to suddenly notice that a strategic shift is needed in order to maintain a competitive advantage—while his or her competitor looks at the same problem and same analysis, but can't put it all together?

A number of elements determine the success of an executive:
 Personal vitality and sustainable energy charge.
 Ability to accept and understand complexity.
 Communication and people-management skills.
 Work ethic, honesty, integrity, and credibility.
 Finesse in managing supervisors and teams.
 Ability to see the whole of a situation.
 Clarity of vision and breadth of goals.
 Capacity to act with courage and maximize results.

All of these elements are vital to leadership success, and your personal sustained quality and breadth of awareness are the foundations of these elements. Executive genius comes from fully tapping your awareness potential. And this inner quality of consciousness is a continually fluctuating commodity. During an average day at work, you might experience numerous moments of inspiration and even a great momentary flash of genius—but there are also moments of frustration or even desperation. You have low-energy and high-energy moments, flashes of expansive thinking followed by the doldrums of muddy thinking. Part of the day you might feel that or as though you have direct access to the solution to problems, but then your genius dims and you perhaps even start generating more problems than you're solving.

The Shortcut of Efficiency. How to Make Job Easier, Faster, and More Efficient.

The Shortcut of Efficiency (Make It Easier)

Efficiency is doing better what is already being done.
—Peter Drucker

Six Sigma (the process perfection system), Total Quality Management (TQM), and many other efficiency processes are being employed by countless companies to find Shortcuts. The black belts of Six Sigma are the icons of this process improvement movement; but wise people don’t wait for one of these programs to be adopted by their companies. They keep the process going on a daily basis in their own jobs. They ask themselves how they can make every step of their job easier, faster, and more efficient.

Improve just one thing you do in your job every week, and you’ll be astounded at how much more efficient and effective you become. It could be anything from how you order supplies to how you organize your hundreds of daily emails. It could be finding a way to better communicate what your department needs to accomplish, or a more efficient process for amassing quarterly numbers for a budget meeting. You might dig into the whole world of one of the biggest perceived time-wasters — meetings. In doing so, you might develop a method that includes only the people who will have real input into the agenda of each meeting, while at the same time discovering a way to transmit the findings of meetings to those who are not present at them.

There are so many ways you can continually tinker with all of the tasks of your job, thereby freeing up more time to get at the really juicy stuff — like the priorities of the business.
I work with many physicians and their practices. One of the major complaints of doctors is the time they must spend doing things other than practicing medicine. One physician points out that if a medical staff professional were designated to call all the patients who have normal lab values, this would increase the face-to-face time the doctor would have with patients by up to 60 minutes a day. That’s substantial when you consider how much better you feel when you have even five more minutes with your doctor. Shortcuts look for ways to do more of what they do and, in doing so, help others do more of what they do.

Ask your fellow colleagues how much time they actually spend at work. You will typically hear 8 to 10 hours a day. But that’s not the point here. When you ask, “How much time do you spend doing the things that are a big payoff to the bottom line?” the answers are startlingly different. To this question you will hear, “two to three hours a day, maximum.” That means there are several things they are either not delegating nor finding a faster, easier, and more efficient way to get done; or several tasks they are doing that they should not be doing at all.

At the end of the 1980s and into the 1990s, heavyweight CEO Jack Welch of GE introduced a process called “Work Out.” Its sole purpose was to have every employee look at what they do every day and ask, “Should I even be doing this? Is there a better way? Is this something that was valuable to do 10 years ago when it was introduced, but has outlived its usefulness?” Mr. Welch was getting at the very core of what it means to be an intelligent Shortcut on a continual basis. By doing so, GE became one of the most tightly managed, most often emulated, and most admired companies in the world.

I heard a supply chain management consultant talk about how the efficiency of the supply chain can save a company millions of dollars and create the professional image that those organizations want their consumers to instantly associate with them. He says that for a retailer like Best Buy or Circuit City, saving just 30 seconds per cash register transaction adds up to millions of dollars, and helps these companies process more transactions per day, which brings in millions more. The consultant’s job, along with other supply chain Shortcuts, is to become so intimate with the process — so expert at understanding how it works — that trimming needless movement and adding productive steps is a worldwide business worth billions, if not trillions.

How to Build Self-Confidence. Brush aside your fears and obstacles by remembering this chart.

How to Build Self-Confidence

In the development of self-confidence, one of the first steps you must take is to dispel forever the feeling that you cannot accomplish anything you undertake. Fear is the chief negative that stands between you and self-confidence, but we shall show you how to scientifically eliminate fear and develop courage in its place.

Reposing in your brain is a sleeping genius which can never be aroused except through the exercise of self-confidence. When it is once aroused, you will be amazed at what you can accomplish. You will surprise all who knew you before your transformation took place. You will brush aside all obstacles and sweep on to victory, backed by an invisible force which recognizes no obstacles. A careful analysis of the successful men of the world shows that the dominating quality which they all possessed was self-confidence.

The purpose of this chart is to show you how you may, through the principles of auto-suggestion and concentration, place any thought or desire in your conscious mind and hold it there until it becomes crystallized into reality. These principles are scientific and accurate. They have been tested thousands of times by leading scientists of the world. To prove their accuracy, you have only to try them out, as hundreds of others are doing, by memorizing the following chart:

1. I know that I have the ability to accomplish all that I undertake. I know that to succeed, I have only to establish this belief in myself and follow it with vigorous, aggressive action. I will establish it.

2. I realize that my thoughts eventually reproduce themselves in material form and substance and become real in the physical state. Therefore, I will concentrate upon the daily task of thinking of the person I intend to be and of drawing a mental picture of this person and of transforming this picture into reality. (Here describe in detail your ‘‘chief aim’’ or the life-work you have selected.)

3. I am studying with the firm intention of mastering the fundamental principles through which I may attract to me the desirable things of life. Through this study, I am becoming more self-reliant and more cheerful. I am developing more sympathy for my fellow men, and I am becoming stronger, both mentally and physically. I am learning to smile the smile that plays upon the heart as well as upon the lips.

4. I am mastering and overpowering the habit of starting something that I do not finish. From this time forward, I will first plan all that I wish to do, making a clear mental picture of it, and then I will let nothing interfere with my plans until I have developed them into realities.

5. I have clearly mapped out and planned the work that I intend to follow for the ensuing five years. I have set a price upon my services for each of the five years, a price that I intend to command through strict application of the principle of efficient, satisfactory service!

6. I fully realize that genuine success will come only through strict application of the ‘‘Golden Rule’’ principles. I will, therefore, engage in no transaction which does not benefit alike all who participate in it. I will succeed by attracting to me the forces that I wish to use. I will induce others to serve me because of my willingness to serve them. I will gain the friendship of my fellow men because of my kindness and my willingness to be a friend. I will eliminate from my mind fear by developing in its place courage. I will eliminate skepticism by developing faith. I will eliminate hatred and cynicism by developing love for humanity.

7. I will learn to stand upon my feet and express myself in clear, concise, and simple language, and to speak with force and enthusiasm, in a matter that will carry conviction. I will cause others to become interested in me, because I will first become interested in them. I will eliminate selfishness and develop in its place the spirit of service.

12 Psychological Edge of Winning Persuaders. Mental Programming of Top Persuaders.

Mental Programming of Top Persuaders

The psychological edge gained by top persuaders cannot be overemphasized. How do great persuaders prepare their minds for success? What is their mental process before, during, and after the persuasion cycle? This mental aspect is one of the most important (and usually neglected) traits of success.
Almost everyone wants to accomplish their dreams, achieve more, become a better person, or pursue bigger and better goals. And we often know exactly what we need to do to make these things happen. So why don’t we do them? Why do we fall short of our dreams and aspirations?
Writing down your goals coupled with a strong desire to reach them won’t automatically bring success if you overlook this one vital detail: Successes are not achieved if they aren’t first conceived mentally. We are told all the time to be positive, to change that attitude, to have a good outlook. In fact, we are so bombarded with these messages that they are easy to tune out. We gloss over “think positive” messages, saying, “Yeah, yeah, yeah, I’ve heard that before. Now get to the meat.”

“Mental Programming.” - This mind training or self-persuasion is what gives great persuaders the psychological edge. It’s true that “you’ll only achieve it once the mind believes it.” By “programming” our minds, we dictate our future. It’s just that simple. Think of your loftiest goals, your greatest aspirations. Do you really believe you can achieve them, deep down? Do you? If you can’t visualize your success, you are unlikely to ever experience it in real life. We are always thinking and processing information, and our thoughts either propel us closer to our goals or drive us away from our dreams. We have a choice. It is critical that our “mental programming” is always geared to our advantage.

Great persuaders have to forget their past mistakes and focus on their future potential. Rest assured that this is something you can reprogram yourself to do. We all try to hide our mistakes and shortcomings, but you can only bury them for so long before they come back to haunt you. Identify your feelings and where they are taking you. Learn to handle those feelings, thoughts, and emotions on your own. Don’t bury them; understand them, master them, and adjust them.

The first step in adjusting your mental “settings” is to take an honest look at where you are now and where you could use some work. Typically, we turn our minds off for subjects and topics that make us feel uncomfortable. But when we are in a state of denial, nothing can change. It’s time to blow the dust off of the “Needs Work” files that you’ve stashed away in the dark corners of your mind. Pulling them out will be a bit like exercising again for the first time in years. In the beginning, it will be quite uncomfortable—maybe even painful. But it’s necessary in order to get back in shape. Ultimately, you will be much better off for having dealt with your issues. The things that were once so difficult will eventually become easy.

Great persuaders share a “psychological edge” or a “mental programming” commonality with great athletes. Here are some examples of what athletes and top persuaders have in common. They both:
 Maintain self-discipline.
 Are able to rebound after a loss.
 Are always learning and growing.
 Continually improve—they can ask tough personal questions after a loss.
 Constantly practice the fundamentals.
 Determine issues that caused mistakes, deal with them, and move on.
 Become stronger with fierce competition—they are strengthened by adversity.
 Visualize success/mental rehearsal of winning.
 Replace negative thoughts with positive thoughts.
 Enjoy the mental/psychological pressure of the game.
 Have the ability to change the way they are feeling.
 Possess a strong self-image and self-esteem.

11 Characteristics of Successful and Winning Persuaders. Path to Your Persuasion Success.

Let's see 11 Characteristics of Successful and Winning Persuaders. Please notice that most of these qualities are all emotion-based. You made your audience feel good about themselves or comfortable about you. There’s nothing here about price, quality, or warranties. These traits keep the brick wall of resistance from forming.

1. “He kept his promises.” Promises made during the persuasion process are fulfilled. Persuaders are honest and realistic in what they promise—they don’t build false hopes or expectations. They “underpromise and overdeliver”—not the other way around!
2. “She’s really dependable.” Successful persuaders proactively give their audience the attention they deserve, doing everything in their power to resolve any problem or concern. They are reliable; nothing stops them from getting the job done or from getting a call back.
3. “He’s clearly very well trained.” Successful persuaders know the ins and outs of their product, including its strengths and weaknesses and how it stacks up against the competition. A great persuader is always an expert on the product, service, or idea he is handling.
4. “She was very sincere, very genuine.” Real persuaders don’t act like they’re just out for a hefty commission. They are sincerely interested in their audience and have their best interests in mind.
5. “I consider him a friend.” Taking the time to build rapport pays off. Personable, likable, caring, and friendly persuaders make the grade. They know that people buy from people they like.
6. “She’d never argue with us.” A good persuader is not so bent on making a point that she argues with her prospects. She is not consumed with her own need to be right; she knows she will not persuade by demonstrating that her audience is wrong, misinformed, or uneducated.
7. “He provides solutions that work!” Helping an audience visualize their success brings the persuader and audience together to illustrate how the product or service will get them there.
8. “She always takes 100 percent responsibility.” No matter what happens, a great persuader accepts full responsibility for results. When challenges present themselves, she deals with those challenges rather than making excuses.
9. “I can tell he is really behind his products.” Successful persuaders love what they offer. They know they cannot get someone to believe in their product more than they do.
10. “She is honest.” It is always clear where a great persuader stands. She is always honest with herself and with others. From this position of strength, she is the audience’s friend, advisor, and advocate.
11. “He’s really entertaining—his visits are always a treat.” Winning persuaders are fun and enjoyable to talk to. They help others feel good about themselves and put smiles on people’s faces. They are full of charisma, love to be around people, and are the ones to bring light to a room. Their presentations are lively, engaging, and informative.

How to troubleshoot your computer hardware problems.

Microsoft Operating System (Windows XP, Windows Vista, etc) supports thousands of hardware devices and accessories, including printers, modems, web cameras, network adapters, and many more. Your Windows OS uses software called a device driver to link and communicate your hardware with applications and operating system. Every hardware device you connect to your computer has its own device driver. Over time, the hardware manufacturer may update the device driver to improve its performance, to improve security, or to correct a problem. Without proper device driver, your hardware may not function properly or work below the optimal performance. Most of the time, you can connect and use your hardware without a problem. But, you might encounter a problem when installing a new piece of hardware, or upgrading to a new operating system, or other scenarios. So, if you are experiencing hardware problems, what can you do to solve them?

If you have a hardware problem, the problem could be caused either by the hardware or by the device driver. Troubleshooting hardware problems often starts by troubleshooting device drivers. Your device drivers can be easily upgraded to a newer version, rolled back to an older version, or reinstalled again. If you started experiencing hardware problems after updating a device driver, just roll back to your previous driver version. One of the important steps in resolving hardware problems is to reinstall the device driver. For lost or missing driver, you need the latest driver update from device manufacturer. If you can't find your manufacturer's web site nor find the latest device drivers, what should you do? Try Driver Access to get the latest version of device drivers from over 1.5 million drivers (Computer Drivers, Video Drivers, USB Drivers, etc) in their database and get your drivers updated automatically. When you download free Driver Access software, it allows you to scan your PC for missing drivers at no cost. Driver Access software identifies and lists your hardware and the associated drivers installed on your computer, and find the latest driver updates for you. When your missing drivers are found, you can pay for a small fee to install the drivers automatically and receive unlimited driver updates. This is not a bad option especially if you cannot locate the driver you need by yourself. Finally, if the device driver is not the cause of your problem, troubleshoot your hardware device.

The Negative Obstacles to Effective Persuasion. Be a naturally persuasive person.

Do you think you are already persuasive? Do you have the essential habits, traits, and skills you need to become an unstoppable power persuader?
Research shows that most persuaders use only three to four persuasive techniques, over and over again. Even high producers typically use only seven or eight persuasive techniques. What a waste of talent! Did you know that there are over one hundred persuasive tools and techniques that you can have readily available, right at your fingertips?

True persuasion is about creating customers and friends for life; it’s not about getting that one quick sale that’s all too likely to turn into a dissatisfied customer, a return, or a refund. It’s not about getting short-term compliance. That type of persuasiveness will generate long-term resentment, rebellion, and frustration.

People aren’t won over by tactics and gimmicks. In fact, they’re all too weary of them. A New York Times poll found that 56 percent of respondents felt you can’t be too careful in dealing with most people, and 34 percent said that most people would try to take advantage of you if they got the chance. When asked what they thought about persuaders or salespeople, only 32 percent of respondents said, “I have a positive attitude toward salespeople.”

The challenge is that most persuaders are certain they possess most of the persuasion traits they need, but when you ask the people and prospects they interact with, you get a completely different picture. Whatever your area of persuasion, most of your audience (whether prospects, employees, or clients) will describe you as:
One-sided
Loud
Condescending

Time waster
Exaggerator
Poor listener

Fake friend
Pushy
Deceptive

Greasy
Fast-talking
Manipulative

Dishonest
Devious
Self-centered

Or they’ll complain about your:
Poor communication
Getting personal too fast

Being misinformed
Blaming others

Lack of followthrough
Not really caring

Overpromising
Asking offensive questions

Badmouthing the competition
Attempts to get their wallet

Lack of interpersonal skills
Not understanding their business

Useless small talk
Employing obvious closing tactics

Why all this negativity? First of all, the general public is more educated now than ever before, which means they are more discerning. Secondly, all of us are bombarded by countless persuasive messages every day. We don’t have to go looking for them—they find us. By the age of twenty, the average American has been exposed to approximately one million television commercials. With such a constant marketing onslaught, who wouldn’t be sick of it? Everyone starts to go numb with the sheer volume of daily persuasive attempts.

Most people think persuaders talk too much, overpromise, fail to follow through, are only looking out for themselves, and are greedy or manipulative.
What does all this mean for you as a persuader? It means out with the old and in with the new. Forget about the old tactics, clichés, and stereotypes. It’s not about having tricks up your sleeve and pulling a fast one. It’s not about coercing, nagging, bullying, or begging. These forms of “persuasion” are not really persuasion at all. They may work initially, but their effects are only temporary and your audience quickly becomes desensitized. As a society, we’ve grown to be more demanding and less patient.

Instead of learning techniques and strategies, think in terms of transforming yourself into a naturally persuasive person. You are what’s persuasive, not some tactic you employ. You’re the real deal. You are persuasive because of the traits, talents, and characteristics you have integrated into your life. Persuasion is the critical skill, and it’s transferable in any situation or career. Cultivating your natural persuasiveness will bring you success in any job, setting, or business.

The greatest ability in business is to get along with others and influence their actions.

Creating World-Class Sales Performance by Aligning Sales Capacity with Sales Competence.

To create and sustain an environment for world-class sales performance, the training and development of sales teams must be holistic, all-encompassing, and proactive. There must be a paradigm shift in thinking. Sales training must evolve quickly and deliberately from an occasional activity by sales managers to an intentional effort that is directly tied to business strategy and measured according to business outcomes. Sales professionals must be knowledgeable, dedicated, and guided by a competency-based approach to develop and hone their skills.

A quantum shift to a competency-based approach will help sales trainers align their efforts with the real needs of the business and the roles that salespeople play. Sales trainers will be more effective in helping their organizations attain business outcomes and results by focusing on sales team member knowledge, skills, and abilities that are closely linked to workplace demands. Sales training and development staff will be able to work proactively with hiring managers to select new employees who demonstrate the predetermined competencies and expertise required for success in each position. These competencies then become part of the performance management system that monitors and evaluates each employee's performance on the job. Finally, these competencies will lay out clearly what each worker needs for possible promotions and the assumption of new roles and responsibilities.

Alignment Balances Competence and Capacity

An organization often will build its sales team to support revenue generation. Frequently, leaders will work hard to build a sustainable model that helps optimize the customer experience. Sales team member efforts support customer service actions, and sales managers interact with leadership teams in other departments. The efforts of the leadership team to create and sustain revenue generation activities are therefore directly affected by how well everyone in the organization works together to support revenue generation, no matter their role. It is every person's job to support the mission of the organization; every employee should understand his or her potential impact on the overall sales effort. Organizations can ensure that understanding by aligning sales capacity with sales competence.

Sales capacity. Sales capacity is an easy concept to understand, but a difficult one to execute. It rests on the premise that the more sales capacity an organization has, the easier it is to sell products and solutions. Conversely, the less sales capacity that exists, the harder it will be. Sales capacity can be measured by leadership position, market share, and customer loyalty. Solid performance in these areas is built upon an organization's business strategy, processes, tools, and innovation. Sales capacity can "create space" for sales professionals to occupy and allows them to produce the desired outputs. Without sales capacity, even the highest performing sales professional will have difficulty achieving results.

Sales competence. Sales competence comprises the knowledge, skills, and abilities of salespeople. By understanding what it takes to achieve sales competence, organizations can effectively address the challenge of executing higher-level strategies with tactical finesse and successful revenue generation. More important, sales competence helps organizations focus on what customers want and need despite rapid changes in the market.

CIO Roles for achieving Outstanding Corporate Success.

CIO Roles

Successful CIOs have a core set of skills and roles which allows them to succeed in an age of complexity and constantly shifting business requirements.

In the 1960s, information technology (IT) was a back-room, low-prestige operation. The "electronic data processing (EDP) manager" would typically not be on the same social, educational, or organizational level as, for example, the vice president (VP) of finance or the head of manufacturing. Roll forward to the 21st century and the CIO is now blessed with acceptance into the "senior leadership club" but challenged by responsibilities never imagined in the past.

Following are some of the roles the new CIO is expected to play:
 Providing technical strategy that seamlessly segues into the corporate business strategy — even in the absence of a well-defined business plan and implementation road map. As Sun Tzu said, "Strategy without tactics is the slowest route to victory. Tactics without strategy is the noise before defeat."

 Maintaining a computing and communications (people, data, phone, cell, etc.) infrastructure that is always available.

 Having knowledge and foresight enough to develop an architecture that, after implementation, enables the business to provide many new services, reduce costs, and streamline operations with existing infrastructure and systems. In other words, you can avoid the scenario where the chief executive officer (CEO) says "I want to do X" and your response is usually "Great, we'll need to install Y to make it happen and it will cost $Z."

 Ensuring that the IT portfolio fund is utilized and managed properly. Dollars go toward high-value return-on-investment (ROI) projects that support the business strategy.

 Hiring the right people, having a tier one Rolodex, chock-a-block full of trusted contractors, and retaining high performers.

 Developing and maintaining a spot-on IT governance structure that does all the things governance is supposed to do — ensure alignment with business goals, ensure proper controls (e.g., change management, security), provide communications up and down the management chain, monitor progress, and manage risk.

 Proactively develop strategic project ideas and suggestions for the business — "the art of the possible." This is the opposite of the order-taker perspective of your muscle car era predecessors.

 Working to seamlessly integrate acquisitions into the IT/business fabric of the organization, or inversely, help to divest subsidiaries without undue disruption.

 Keeping the lid on expenses. Not only do the high-profile new projects need to be managed, but the day-to-day operating expenses and budget must be scrutinized as well.

 Translate, communicate, and educate. To paraphrase former President George H.W Bush, you need to promote the "vision thing." Short-term thinking is the enemy of effective IT, and the CIO must constantly translate (from "geek speak" to English) and communicate (two way) with the business — here is the plan, here are the benefits, and here is what will happen if we take a short-term, expedient approach. Assume, for example, that your users have always used bicycles to get to work. You suggest an automobile. "Good idea," they say, "but we're used to handlebars and this steering wheel feels awkward; let's install handlebars in the automobiles." At that point, you and the user's management need to communicate so that the message to the users is clear — we are going to have a little short-term pain for some long-term benefit.

Credit management Guidelines. How to develop an Effective Credit Control.

Credit management

How can we develop an effective credit control policy that will make a positive contribution to the business? The first objective must be to ensure the correct balance of debtors and creditors, i.e. that the overall level of credit given to customers does not exceed the overall level of credit received from suppliers. This is easily checked by comparing the average debtor-days with the average creditor-days. However, that comparison alone will not suffice.

Consider the situation where we take an average of £50 000 of credit on an average of £100 000 of purchases per month, resulting in a figure of fifteen creditor-days. At the same time, we give our customers an average of £60 000 of credit on sales of £150 000 per month, which works out at twelve debtor-days. On the face of things, this looks good in that we are giving twelve days’ credit but receiving fifteen days’ credit. However, in reality, we are giving an average of £60 000 credit each month but only receiving £50 000, which causes a net outflow of working capital. In a situation where the business is seeking a rapid expansion of trade, this is likely to be a common occurrence, and the actual cash figures should not be ignored just because the ratios look to be acceptable.

The above imbalance might be addressed by offering prompt payment incentives to reduce the debtors’ figure. Alternatively, we could negotiate with our own creditors for longer payment terms, so that the average outstanding payments owed to them were larger that the debtors figure, say sixty-day payment terms rather than thirty-day. If the business is growing, the trade-off incentive to the suppliers might be the opportunity to deliver larger consignments of goods in one drop, requesting improved credit terms as an alternative to bulk quantity discounts. Remember there has got to be something in the deal to make it worthwhile to the supplier.

Another factor to bear in mind is that when trying to establish a balance between the overall debtors and creditors, it is not necessary for every single one of them to be in balance. For example, there may be one or two highly valued customers with whom you have negotiated special terms, e.g. extended credit for larger orders or long-term contracts. These could easily be counter-balanced by other customers to whom you give discounts for cash on delivery, or other prompt payment terms, such as within seven or fourteen days of invoice. It is the overall balance that is important to achieve.

In any period of expansion, it is also important to have a clearly defined credit control policy. Without going into great detail about credit control activity and debt collection techniques, it is necessary for the sales or accounts staff (or whoever deals with outstanding debts) to have clear guidelines to follow. These might include:
 Specified credit limits for each customer, which they cannot exceed without either payment or the owner-manager’s specific authority.
 Specified dates or points at which the various credit control activities are triggered, for example initial reminder telephone calls, reminder letters, warning letters, supplies stopped, legal action commenced, etc. Once established, these should be adhered to firmly. Simply monitoring the aged debtors analysis generated by the accounting system at the end of each month is insufficient, there needs to be a designated person in the business who has the specific responsibility of monitoring payments due, on a daily basis.
 Clearly defined responsibilities for debt recovery and customer liaison. There is nothing worse than one person in the business chasing a customer for late payment, whilst the salesman is on the premises trying to get further orders. This happens frequently, and particularly in smaller firms where the financial and customer information systems are less likely to be fully integrated.
 Good working systems to ensure that the creditors of the business are paid on time, to ensure the maintenance of the supply chain, and to avoid the embarrassment of unavailable stock when your supplier will not deliver until your cheque is cleared.
 A contingency plan in case of emergencies, e.g. seasonal disruption of trade through bad weather. This is where the budgetary plan and cash flow forecast can help identify potential problems, and where, for example, temporary overdraft facilities can be arranged well in advance in readiness for any problems. Apart from the arrangement fee, an overdraft only incurs charges if and when it is used, although the fact that it is available should not tempt you to use it unless it is really required.

Key Attributes of Effective Distance Learning Program.

Sometimes, it may be impractical or not cost-effective to bring all your employees to a central location for a training session. Distributed Business Units are often spread out among remote sites and different locations. Bringing them to the corporate headquarters can be costly and difficult to schedule. Although such situations may prevent you from conducting the traditional-style classroom training session, you can still deliver an effective corporate learning program with other alternatives. More organizations are supplementing their classroom-based training sessions with distance learning program. Distance learning courses can be very helpful to organizations that seek to bridge the learning-delivery gaps caused by multiple geographic locations, time constraints, and other barriers to learning. Distance Learning program offers opportunities for blending Learning and Technology to create engaging learning experiences and learner-centered training. Here are key attributes and benefits of effective Distance Learning program:

  • Easy Access to Resources. Learners can easily access the course materials at their convenience, when and where they need it.
  • More Efficient Delivery. In addition to being economical, distance learning allows you to deliver training to a large number of people at multiple sites at the same time.
  • Low Cost Delivery. You save money with no or minimized travel, automated administration, etc.
  • Allows options for more in-depth study or review whenever needed.
  • Support Adult Learning Principles to ensure Effective Transfer of Training. Adult learners learn best in cooperative climates that encourage risk taking and experimentation.
  • Learner-Centered Design. In many cases, distance learning puts learners in control of their own learning.
  • Simplified Distribution of Materials. Electronic distribution of materials not only saves printing and postage but it also enables instant, worldwide updates to the existing material.
  • Consistent Quality.
  • Better Use of Subject-matter Experts. Competent trainers often simulate the real work environment and provide real world examples to ensure effective transfer of training to learner's job.

Effective Cash Management. Understand Key Factors that influence Cash Flow.

Cash management
The key to the survival of any business is cash flow, because if cash does not flow into the business at an adequate rate to maintain the level of working capital, then the business will struggle to survive. The working capital is defined in terms of current or short-term assets (petty cash, cash in the current account, stock, work in progress, and cash owed to the business) minus the current liabilities (overdrafts, money owed to suppliers or other creditors, etc.). If there is not a positive difference between the two, then the business cannot pay its bills on time. If cash flow is poorly managed or if the rate of expansion outstrips the size of the working capital (a situation known as over-trading), then only the goodwill of the banks and the creditors will keep the business going. In reality, neither of those groups can afford to be philanthropic when faced with repeated late payments, which are a sure sign of a potential risk; well, perhaps a little philanthropy from the banking sector would not go amiss at times.

Any business that is planning to diversify or grow must first ensure that it has adequate working capital in place to facilitate the expansion, and second, that it has suitable systems in place to monitor and control its cash flow. Unless the business operates in a strictly cash environment, any expansion will require the giving of a higher volume of credit than is currently the case. Whilst corresponding increased credit can usually be obtained from its suppliers, there will always be a gap between the two, i.e. the cost of the added value, and the profit margin which the business must make. It is the added value part, the staff wages, the overhead costs, distribution expenses, etc., that the working capital must bridge until the goods or services are paid for, and the more that is sold, the more the funds that are needed to bridge the gap. Without the working capital to bridge this gap, the firm will end up over-trading, which apart from being illegal (in that it is trading insolvently because it cannot pay its creditors when due) is a straightforward recipe for disaster. Many highly profitable firms have gone under because they have attempted to expand faster than their working capital would allow, and have simply run out of money with which to operate the business on a day-to-day basis.

Main factors that influence cash flow
 The net profit from trading (assuming of course that all debtors pay on time). As trading profits increase, they will increase the amount of working capital available, but equally, any losses will diminish working capital.
 The sale of fixed assets will increase the cash available to run the business, but any corresponding or subsequent purchase of fixed assets will reduce that sum. When a vehicle is sold at the end of its practical working life, the residual value will be added to the working capital pot. However, any replacement vehicle (which will inevitably cost more on account of inflation over the intervening years) will probably result in a larger sum being taken out of the working capital pot, unless other financial provisions are made.
 When a long-term loan is taken out (or any other long-term liability), the working capital pot is increased; however, any regular repayments of loan capital and interest will progressively diminish the available balance.
 Injections of extra share capital will also increase the available working capital, but this receipt will again be counter-balanced by the payment of dividends to shareholders and the taxation of profits.
 Receipts from investments (interest or dividends) will add to the pot, but these are also liable to taxation.
 Changes in the average balance of debtors and creditors are major influences on the available working capital. Increased creditors (more credit from suppliers) and decreased debtors (faster payment by customers) will both improve the cash flow, whilst conversely, the reduction in creditors and any increase in debtors will worsen cash flow. The latter is one of the inevitable effects of any growth in trading.
 Increased stockholding, which may be necessary in response to growth in demand, will reduce the amounts of cash available, but if stocks can be reduced, e.g. by switching to just-in-time deliveries by suppliers or by simply reducing the average levels of stocks held, then cash can be freed for other purposes.

Each one of the above aspects needs a definitive policy and careful management if the available working capital is to be optimized, because it is easy for any one of them to get out of control and to wreck the effects of careful cash management in the other areas. For example, the benefits of a tight credit control policy can easily be wiped out by the loss of available spare cash due to overstocking or by not making best use of available credit from suppliers.

Effective online courses for E-Learning.

Online learning in the workplace has its own opportunities and limitations. Many have worried that online learning would allow impersonal, insensitive characteristics to dominate, if not eradicate, the nurturing of new skills and insights. As long as we think e-learning as an automated form of traditional classroom instruction, we forget to think them as an opportunity for developing collaborative learning communities, innovative explorations, simulations, or even personalized practice.

Workplace success comes from doing the right things at the right times. Therefore, for online learning to succeed, it must help learners develop and implement knowledge, skills and attitudes that result in valuable performance improvement. Best practices in online learning today are no longer just focusing on replicating instructor-led classroom experiences. Rather, they look into the unique capabilities of online systems to produce performance improvements while remain mindful of their limitations. They adapts to learner needs and actively involves learners with frequent activities. Successful e-learning must be engaging. It keeps learners focused and practicing important tasks that will be effective on the job. It has a powerful context, compelling challenges, intuitive activities, and effective feedback. It is intrinsically interesting and cognitively demanding. It uses interactivity and multimedia technology well. E-learning has the necessary capabilities but needs to be designed specifically for performance enhancement rather than just for information distribution. It requires learner-centric designs that create meaningful, memorable, and motivational experiences. They can saves you money through low-cost delivery (no or minimized travel, automated administration, etc).

Developing online courses for e-learning is a challenge that demands not only design excellence but also effective use of technology. K Alliance Education understand well these fundamentals and strive to create a unique e-learning experience. Their Online e-learning modules are self-paced, media rich, and highly interactive, with the ability to be used in a blended learning environment. It focused on critical business tasks that result in significant workplace performance improvement.

Learn Cheaper and Better Strategy from Japanese.

Cheaper and Better

Back in the 1970s it was generally accepted that a good strategy involved clear choices. You couldn't be all things to all people. You couldn't keep all your options open.
In particular, you couldn't be cheaper and better. As Michael Porter put it back then, you had to choose between a low cost strategy and a differentiation strategy. Differentiation generally meant being better (or being perceived as better) and more expensive. This polarized choice was seen as capturing how customers behave and how firms have to compete. It was even seen as true of countries. You could choose high-quality and very expensive machine tools from Germany or cheap and not very reliable tools from (this was the 1970s) Japan.

Then the Japanese changed the whole game. They moved up from low cost entry points and became the benchmark for quality, reliability, top-end design, branding — everything associated with differentiation. Honda and Toyota set new quality standards in cars, trouncing GM and Ford. The same story played out in televisions and audio, in cameras, in bicycle gears. The Japanese showed that the killer play was to be cheaper and better.
More recently, New World wines have knocked the French off the top of the heap on quality and cost. Dell's 1990s leadership in PCs was based on high efficiency and low cost combined with superior customer service.

There are exceptions where customers still need to see high cost as a signal of quality, like perfume, cosmetics, high-end fashion goods; or like investment banking, consulting, legal services. But most businesses now strive to be cheaper and better; customers look for products and solutions that are cheaper and better. Tight cost management is seen not as opposed to high quality but as part and parcel of it.

The same polarization used to be discussed around company cultures. You could either be a caring, nurturing company or you could be a hard-ass cost cutter. Who would want to work for the latter? How could you expect to attract and retain talent?
Nevertheless, this is another false choice. It turns out that talented employees generally prefer demanding employers. They want to work in well-managed, profitable businesses. They don't want underperformers cuddled and cosseted.

Intensive MCITP Boot Camp Program.

Continuous Training is key element for creating sustainable, high performance organization. Companies spend millions of dollar to train their employees to build competencies, increase productivity and gain competitive advantage. Company adopt different modes of training – Synchronous and Asynchronous. Synchronous training, usually conducted through classroom, is an instructor-led event attended by learners. Many companies arrange onsite training at their location to save the associated travel expenses and save their employees time away from the office. To develop a successful workforce training program, training program should be customized to align with organizational needs and objectives. An effective training program should carefully design each training ingredient (content, instructional methods, delivery approach and learning outcomes) for optimal results, by combining both hard and soft skills development. For example, for the IT industry, besides the traditional MCITP Certification Training, many employees are also trained on Soft Skills Training, Management Training, Leadership Training, and many more.

In most companies, Microsoft technologies permeates well in many areas of their IT Infrastructure - from Operating Systems, Databases, Messaging, Business Intelligence, etc. As a result, IT Professionals should acquire knowledge, develop real-world skills and mastery of Microsoft technologies. The Microsoft Certified IT Professional (MCITP) credential is the premier certification that highlights IT professional's area of expertise, such as Database Administrator, Database Developer, Business Intelligence Developer, Enterprise Messaging Administrator, Enterprise Administrator or Enterprise Desktop Support Technician. By earning a Microsoft Certified IT Professional (MCITP) credential, it validates that you have the necessary knowledge and skills to deploy, build, design, optimize, operate and support Microsoft Technologies. For example: As Enterprise Support Technician, you can diagnose, troubleshoot and resolve all types of desktop support issues; support end users; install and configure hardware and software for medium-sized or enterprise environments. Many IT professionals go for Microsoft MCITP boot camp classes to prepare their Microsoft Certification. Microsoft MCITP bootcamp program is fast paced and intensive. With Boot Camp program, Microsoft Certified Trainers provide proven instructional methods and ready-to-use materials (guidelines, examples, exercises, activities, and assessments) to deliver quality and comprehensive training. So, enhance your career by becoming a certified IT professional.

2 Ways to Minimize the Core Organization. SUBCONTRACTING and OUTSOURCING Strategy for Leaner Organization.

Minimizing the Core Organization
Given the difficulty of managing people cost, a central strategic principle is to keep the core organization of full-time staff down to an absolute minimum.

1) SUBCONTRACTING
For example, you could contract out most of the components of a product or service and only keep in-house the higher value-added activities, like design, final assembly, brand management.
The top global automakers have been moving along this path for decades, pushing out much of the risk and pain of ups and downs in demand. They subcontract either to specialized component makers who end up being huge global players themselves, like Bosch or Valio; or to fragmented but highly efficient local small businesses, like the network of plastics moldings suppliers in Japan, delivering at 50% of the cost of Toyota or Nissan.
Or take media companies. Back in the 1970s these businesses were very vertically integrated and had strong labor unions. Over the last four decades they have been hollowed out. Production companies, editing houses, cameramen, distribution arms — these have been separated out from the core commissioning and brand-owning business, either to smaller outside companies or to individual contractors. In the process the industry has been deunionized. Rates for most jobs have fallen as labor markets have become more open and competitive.
The hollowing out or unbundling of an enterprise is not just about managing people cost. A narrow focus on a few core businesses and a few core competencies is likely to maximize corporate value. Vertical integration and conglomerate strategies are old hat, looking back to the early days of US Steel and Ford Motor Co., not relevant in today's specialized and efficient markets.

2) OUTSOURCING
You can also minimize the core organization by outsourcing whole administrative functions, like IT, personnel records, payroll, financial processing. Huge businesses have been built around this trend, including hundreds of thousands of people employed by Accenture, IBM Global Services, EDS and PwC, in the West and in offshore locations like India and the Philippines.
As with component suppliers, there can be reasons other than people cost for outsourcing. In IT, for example, a large specialist can get scale advantage in the cost of data centers or networks or hardware purchasing, and can stay up to speed more easily on technology developments. Nevertheless, a prime motivation for most outsourcing moves is to shift the burden of people cost management outside, onto the outsourcer.
An outsourcer of insurance claims processing has no material cost other than people, so is going to be obsessed with keeping that cost as low and flexible as possible. Its client, the outsourcing insurer, wants to focus on the high value added of product development, actuarial skills, branding and distribution. If claims processing stayed in the core organization the claims-processing staff would probably end up overpaid and underproductive. And if there is a business downturn the trauma of downsizing is transferred to the outsourcer.
Pushing activities out to subcontractors and outsourcers does not mean the costs no longer need to get managed, however. In-house people cost goes away, but the cost becomes a supplier cost and managing suppliers brings a different set of challenges.

Business Technology Strategy. Identify the major Trends and Drivers of Business Technology Change.

Trends That Really Matter for your business technology investments.

What do we really need to know?
Do we need to know every specific feature the next release of Microsoft Office will have? Do we really need to know exactly what the next version of the SAP ERP platform will look like? Or is it the macro trends that influence what we buy, deploy, support, decommission, and optimize that matter most? I’ve been working with some colleagues about the short list of trends that matter. One of the participants in the project calls this list the “if-we-only-had-perfect-information-about-these-trends-life-would-be-perfect” list.

1. Regulatory Trends— Will the government regulate eBusiness? Will it tax Internet transactions? Will it legislate the end of spam? Will it define and uphold privacy rights? Will it develop policies around intellectual property? Will it regulate outsourcing? I’d love to have the answers to all of these questions. If the government actually discovers the digital world and decides to respond to its requirements, then things could change dramatically for those of us who make our livings around business technology. But if the government stays in digital denial, we can expect lots of problems and occasional chaos.

2. Interoperability Trends— Will everything work together? Will Web services become ubiquitous? Will we be able to (remember the phrase?) plug-and-play? This Holy Grail has eluded us for decades, but for the first time that I can remember, prospects for integration and interoperability are—if not excellent—at least good. The way the open versus proprietary trends play out will determine just how connected data, applications, and communications become. I’d love to know how it will all shake out.

3. Supply Chain Trends— Will Wal-Mart connect the world? Will Dell take collaboration and integration to the next level? Will demand forecasting, dynamic pricing, and inventory management marry radio frequency identification (RFID) to enable real-time management? Will business become continuous? Although enormous progress has been made in supply chain planning and management, there’s still a long way to go to bridge the supply chain haves and have-nots. How will it play out? If we knew how the world was going to connect and collaborate, we could make business technology decisions that prepare us for supply chain optimization.

4. Architecture Trends— Will thin clients make a comeback—and then rule the world? Will fat clients get even fatter? Will super servers graze on super server farms? What will data standards look like? Security standards? Wireless communications standards? As the industry consolidates, architectures will also consolidate. But what will they look like? Perfect information here could save the industry billions of dollars every year. As it is, we have to hedge our technology bets—and hedging can be expensive.

5. Sourcing Trends— Will it make sense to outsource? Will technology “utilities” finally emerge? Will companies be able to pay by the drink? Will shared risk contracting become pervasive? Will we develop best practices around sourcing for infrastructure services, database management, applications, and communications? Will robust sourcing TCO and ROI models emerge? Information about how the industry organizes its providers and users would provide critical strategic information about what and how to source technology products and services.

6. Infrastructure Trends— Will the Internet collapse? Will security breaches become routine? Will viruses continue to invade our computing and communications infrastructures? Will they become intelligent and self-healing? Will we upgrade them on a scheduled basis? While we tend to think more creatively about customer-facing applications, the need for secure, reliable, and scalable infrastructures will continue to grow. There’s a growing chorus about the vulnerability of our networks—particularly the Internet. Are they alarmists, or is there something to really worry about? It would be great to actually know.

7. Disruptive Technology Trends— There are always lists of “emerging” technologies, technologies that lots of us think will “disrupt” business models and processes. I’d love to know that the real list looks like in 2010. Will wireless communications technology revolutionize B2C and B2B transaction processing? Will VoIP enable most of our data and voice communications? Will intelligent systems technology penetrate our infrastructures and applications portfolios? I’d sure like to see the list that will define the next decade.

Perfect information is impossible to acquire. So what should we do with lists like the one above? First, I think it’s the effort—not the list—that matters. What would your list look like? If you can identify the major drivers of business technology change, you should be able to steer your business technology investments. Perfect information exercises are intended to reduce uncertainty about macro trends. Although uncertainty cannot be eliminated, it can be “managed.” Try it; pick five, seven, or ten things you’d really like to know—and then think about their trajectories—and your business technology strategy.
